Canal came to us in their early stage of developing their SaaS startup. They needed a highly scalable solution on AWS that was able to handle a high number of webhooks based on e-commerce orders and do real time processing on this data to build recommendations. Their application was built on a monolithic Django application which needed to be scaled.

opsZero setup an AWS EKS cluster with a load balancer that handled a high number of requests using Nginx to then proxy to hundreds of pods running the Django monolith. We used Kubernetes ingress to split the load of the app, an Aurora database running Postgres for the writes, as well as an additional read database.

Deployments were set up using GitHub Actions, and AWS ECR is used for container image storage. Since some downtime and loss of webhooks was acceptable, we used Elasticache for Celery request processing within EKS to reduce costs for the customer.
